Starizona Nexus 0.75x Newtonian Focal Reducer / Coma Corrector Lens - NEXUS
The Starizona Nexus 0.75x Newtonian Focal Reducer/Coma Corrector Lens transforms your Newtonian telescope into a high-performance astrographic tool.
Unlike traditional coma correctors that maintain or even slow down the telescope's native focal ratio, the Nexus not only corrects coma but also provides a 0.75x focal reduction factor.
This effectively converts a typical f/4 Newtonian into a faster f/3 system, expanding the field of view and reducing exposure times by 1.8x.
Crafted with extra-low dispersion (ED) glass in an intricate optical arrangement, the Nexus rivals the performance of top-tier coma correctors while actually decreasing the focal length.
Furthermore, it's engineered to be parfocal, ensuring that the original focal point of the telescope remains unchanged.
With a corrected image circle of 28mm, it accommodates camera sensors up to APS format.
While primarily designed for popular f/4 imaging Newtonians, the Nexus is compatible with Newtonians as fast as f/3.
The Nexus necessitates a 55mm backfocus, aligning with the prevalent standard for most coma correctors, field flatteners, and focal reducers.
This specification caters to DSLRs, mirrorless cameras, as well as a wide range of astronomical CMOS and CCD cameras.
On the camera side, the Nexus features M48 threads, while the telescope end is equipped with M48 threads for a standard 2" filter.
However, it's worth noting that some slower Newtonians originally intended for visual use may face challenges achieving focus with certain cameras and the stock focuser.
The Nexus, while maintaining the original focus point of the telescope, requires a 55mm backfocus.
Therefore, the camera must be capable of achieving focus with this specific backfocus distance.
For instance, a CMOS camera with a backfocus of 17.5mm might achieve focus on a particular Newtonian without the Nexus, but may not when the backfocus is extended to the 55mm required by the coma corrector.
If uncertain about your telescope's compatibility, please don't hesitate to reach out to us for guidance.
Features and Highlights
- 0.75x Focal Reduction Factor: The Starizona Nexus 0.75x Newtonian Focal Reducer/Coma Corrector Lens is engineered to provide a remarkable 0.75x focal reduction factor, effectively transforming your Newtonian telescope into a faster imaging system. This reduction translates to a larger field of view and significantly reduced exposure times, making it ideal for capturing wide-field astrophotography. The Nexus enhances your astrophotography endeavors by boosting imaging efficiency and expanding your celestial horizons.
- Advanced Coma Correction: This optical marvel incorporates extra-low dispersion (ED) glass within a sophisticated optical design, delivering coma correction performance on par with the best in its class. Unlike many traditional coma correctors, the Nexus reduces the telescope's focal length, ensuring that stars remain sharp and well-corrected across the entire field of view. This meticulous correction enhances the quality of your astrophotographs, revealing fine details with exceptional clarity.
- Wide Compatibility and Standardized Design: The Nexus Focal Reducer/Coma Corrector boasts versatile compatibility, with backfocus requirements matching the common 55mm standard for coma correctors, field flatteners, and focal reducers. This flexibility allows you to use DSLRs, mirrorless cameras, and a wide range of astronomical CMOS and CCD cameras with ease. The lens features M48 threads on the camera side and a standard 2" barrel on the telescope end, complete with M48 threads for the attachment of standard 2" filters.
- Maintains Original Telescope Focal Point: The Nexus is thoughtfully designed to preserve the original focal point of your Newtonian telescope, eliminating the need for complex and time-consuming refocusing procedures. This user-friendly feature simplifies the imaging process, allowing for efficient and consistent performance throughout your astrophotography sessions.
- Enhanced Field of View: With a corrected image circle of 28mm, the Nexus accommodates camera sensors up to APS format, facilitating wide-field astrophotography and making it suitable for a range of imaging tasks. This expanded field of view broadens your potential for capturing stunning celestial objects in a single frame, enhancing the versatility of your Newtonian telescope.
- Proudly Made in the USA: The Starizona Nexus 0.75x Newtonian Focal Reducer/Coma Corrector Lens is proudly manufactured in the United States. This commitment to local production not only supports American manufacturing but also ensures that users can trust in the exceptional standards of craftsmanship associated with products made in the USA.
