Stanley London Engravable Brass Sounding Sextant With Hardwood Case
This Stanley London® 3.5-inch (8.9 cm) radius sounding sextant is a reproduction of a rare and unique sextant. The sounding sextant has a wide aspect ratio frame and no swing arm filters. Both the index and horizon mirrors are fully adjustable. This sextant has a beautiful antique patina and measures 5 inches (12.7 cm) tall, 5 1/2 inches (14.0 cm) wide, 3 1/4 inches (8.3 cm) deep, and weighs one pound (454 grams). The sextant has a slow motion control to allow fine adjustment of the elevation angle, and there is a hardwood handle on the back on the sextant. Each sextant is engraved "Stanley London 1885" on the index arm.
While the sextant is fully functional, it is not calibrated nor intended for navigation or surveying. It is an unusual sextant and makes the perfect gift for the collector. A beautiful handmade solid hardwood storage and display box is included with the sextant. The interior of the case is lined with felt and custom brass plaques are available for the outside or inside lid of the box. Both the sextant and hardwood case are distressed to look like a 100-year old antique.
