Starizona Apex ED 0.65x Reducer / Flattener Lens in Short Version - ApexED-S

When paired with the Apex ED reducer, an f/5.5 apochromatic refractor transforms into a remarkably fast f/3.6 astrograph, while a slower f/9 telescope, such as an RC, becomes a swift f/5.9 system.

This reduction factor extends your field of view by 1.5 times and significantly shortens exposure times by a factor of 2.4, optimizing your astrophotography experience.

The Apex ED reducer is equipped with extra-low dispersion glass to eliminate chromatic aberration, ensuring the capture of sharp star images across a generous 30mm image circle. It's compatible with a wide range of popular CCD, CMOS, and DSLR cameras up to APS-C format.

Designed to seamlessly integrate into your setup, the Apex ED reducer fits into a standard 2" focuser and features M42 T-threads on the camera side.

On the telescope side, it can accommodate a standard 2" (M48) filter, facilitating the use of light-pollution or other filters.

For Meade ACF telescopes, the Apex can be easily attached using a 2" visual back.

Moreover, for select refractors, optional threaded adapters are available for direct attachment of the Apex reducer, eliminating the possibility of tilt that may be introduced by the standard focuser clamp ring.

This specific model is the "S" version of the Starizona Apex ED Reducer / Flattener Lens. To view the "L" version of this Lens, click here.

For optimal performance enhancement, the "S" version of the Apex ED is specifically designed for telescopes with focal lengths ranging from 300-500mm, which includes a wide range of telescopes, such as most 60-80mm apochromatic refractors. This variant is tailored to cater to the unique needs of these telescopes, ensuring that they operate at their best.

Backfocus:

The specific backfocus distance from the Apex ED reducer's T-threads to the image sensor may vary slightly based on the telescope's focal length.

In all configurations, it is guaranteed to be at least 55mm. The table provided below outlines the ideal backfocus values for different focal lengths.

If you require assistance in selecting the appropriate adapters or spacers for your particular configuration, please don't hesitate to reach out to us for guidance and support.

Features and Highlights

  • Enhanced Optics: This reducer/flattener lens is designed to optimize the performance of telescopes. It effectively reduces the focal length of the telescope by a factor of 0.65x, allowing for wider fields of view and shorter exposure times in astrophotography.
  • Extra-Low Dispersion Glass: The lens incorporates extra-low dispersion (ED) glass elements, which significantly reduce chromatic aberration. This ensures that star images remain sharp and well-defined across the entire field of view.
  • Flexible Backfocus Distance: This lens version offers flexibility in backfocus distance, accommodating various telescopes with focal lengths ranging from 300-500mm, including most 59-62mm apochromatic refractors.
  • Optimum Backfocus Values: To help users achieve the best performance, a table is provided that outlines the ideal backfocus values for different focal lengths. Additionally, the manufacturer offers personalized support to assist users in selecting the right adapters or spacers for their specific setup.
  • Fully Multi-Coated Optics: The lens features fully multi-coated optics, which enhance light transmission and reduce glare. This results in improved image contrast and clarity, allowing for more detailed and vibrant observations.
