Vixen Optics SD81S 81mm FPL-53 ED APO f/7.7 Refractor Telescope

Presenting the Vixen SD81S 81mm FPL-53 ED Refractor Telescope, a cutting-edge apochromatic refractor featuring high-performance Super ED glass (SD).

The FPL53 glass ensures an exceptionally clear and sharp image, virtually eliminating residual color defects.

With precision engineering, the SD glass aligns violet, red, blue, yellow, and green rays onto the same plane.

Vixen SD81S 81mm FPL-53 ED Refractor Telescope Objective Lens

This specialized lens material dramatically reduces chromatic aberration across all colors.

In synergy with the optional SD Reducer HD Kit or SD Flattener HD, these refractors facilitate a 44mm image circle for full-format SLR cameras, granting expanded imaging possibilities.

One of the standout features of these SD refractors is their compact size and lightweight nature.

While the ED81SII, ED103S, and ED115S refractors were initially designed for visual or APS-C camera use, the new SD series has been refined to accommodate full-frame cameras through updated inner panels.

The substantial focuser effortlessly supports heavier cameras without tilting concerns.

For added convenience, the included folding mirror ensures comfortable observation, even in challenging conditions, and presents a T2 thread for seamless DSLR camera attachment.

Features:

  • 81mm Objective Lens: The 81mm objective lens offers a balance between portability and light-gathering capability. While it's compact and easy to transport, it still captures a sufficient amount of light to provide clear and detailed views of various celestial objects.
  • 159x Highest Useful Magnification: With a highest useful magnification of 159x, this telescope provides astronomers the capability to scrutinize lunar craters, planetary features, and other celestial details with remarkable precision. The high magnification potential makes it an ideal instrument for those seeking intricate views of astronomical objects.

  • 625mm Focal Length: The telescope's 625mm focal length at f/7.7 strikes a balance between wide-field observation and detailed imaging. This configuration allows for versatile use, making it suitable for capturing expansive star fields as well as focusing on the intricate features of planets and other objects in the night sky.

  • Apochromatic Refractor: As an apochromatic refractor, the Vixen SD81S employs advanced optics, including Super ED glass, to virtually eliminate chromatic aberration. This results in exceptionally clear, sharp, and color-accurate images, ensuring a superior visual and astrophotography experience for users.

  • High-performance Super FPL-53 ED Glass Lens: The use of high-performance Super FPL-53 ED glass in the lens construction is a standout feature. This glass minimizes chromatic aberration, ensuring that colors come together accurately, resulting in images with exceptional clarity and sharpness. It significantly reduces color fringing around high-contrast objects.
  • Short Overall Length and Low Weight: The telescope's compact design and low weight make it convenient for transportation and setup. This feature is especially beneficial for both on-the-go observations and field trips, allowing you to explore the night sky with ease.
  • Ideal for Planetary Observation and Photography: The combination of the objective lens size and advanced optics makes this telescope particularly well-suited for planetary observation and photography. The reduced chromatic aberration ensures that planetary features are distinct and sharp, making it a valuable tool for capturing detailed planetary images.
  • Illumination with a 44mm Image Circle for Full Format: The optional SD Reducer HD Kit or SD Flattener HD expands the telescope's imaging capabilities, enabling illumination with a 44mm image circle suitable for full-format cameras. This wider field of view accommodates larger camera sensors, making it an excellent choice for capturing expansive deep-sky scenes.
  • Pure-color, High-contrast Images: The combination of the ED glass and advanced optics results in pure-color and high-contrast images. Color fringing and distortions are significantly reduced, allowing for accurate representation of celestial objects and enhancing the overall visual and photographic experience.
  • Included Accessories: The package includes a carry handle, a foldable mirror,  red dot finder, pipe clamps and a versatile dovetail adapter for compatibility ensuring a comprehensive and convenient stargazing experience.
