Explore Scientific FirstLight 10-inch f/5 Dobsonian Telescope Bonus Package - FL-DOB1005-02-PK

Introducing the Explore Scientific FirstLight 10-inch f/5 Dobsonian Telescope Package - a revolutionary advancement in the world of amateur astronomy.

The impact of the Dobsonian telescope, pioneered by John Dobson, cannot be overstated.

Before its arrival, amateur astronomers were limited to modest, mechanically primitive telescopes that barely revealed the wonders of the cosmos, such as the polar caps of Mars or Saturn's rings.

Larger, more capable instruments like the Schmidt-Cassegrain were the domain of the affluent.

The brilliance of the Dobsonian telescope lies in its ingenious fusion of simplicity and effectiveness, offering an unparalleled aperture-to-cost ratio.

Now, Explore Scientific has unveiled a universal masterpiece. This Dobsonian can effortlessly transform into a Newtonian telescope.

Should you wish to delve into astrophotography, simply remove the tube's bearings and mount it on an EQ (equatorial) mount using the provided Vixen style dovetail plate.

The telescope boasts an incomparable 2.5" HEX focuser with helical gearing, ensuring easy and precise focusing while accommodating both 1.25" and 2" eyepieces.

This inclusion is a remarkable leap forward in its price range.

For your convenience, a Red Dot viewfinder and a 25mm SPL eyepiece are included with the telescope.

If portability is your concern, the 10" FirstLight Dobsonian/Newtonian offers a hassle-free solution.

The rockerbox can be disassembled with minimal effort, thanks to metal quick connectors, transforming it from a bulky apparatus into a compact package of boards.

It's the ideal companion for avid deep-sky observers, delivering breathtaking views of planets and celestial objects even to those new to astronomy.

Star clusters reveal their intricate details, and observing the moon's terminator is an unforgettable experience.

To enhance its performance further, the telescope is fully compatible with our optional coma corrector.

Embark on a journey through the cosmos like never before with the Explore Scientific FirstLight 10-inch f/5 Dobsonian Telescope Package.

Features:

  • Impressive 10-inch Aperture: The Explore Scientific FirstLight telescope boasts a substantial 10-inch aperture. This substantial light-gathering capability allows you to capture an abundance of light from distant celestial objects, resulting in brighter and more detailed views of the cosmos.
  • 500x Highest Useful Magnification: With a maximum useful magnification of 500x, this telescope enables you to explore a wide range of celestial targets in incredible detail. Whether you're observing planets, galaxies, or star clusters, you'll have the power to zoom in and reveal intricate features.
  • 1270mm Focal Length: The telescope's generous 1270mm focal length plays a crucial role in its optical performance. It provides a balanced combination of magnification and field of view, making it suitable for both planetary and deep-sky observations. The longer focal length allows for high-resolution views of the planets, while still offering a wide enough field to capture sprawling nebulae and star clusters.
  • Versatile Design: One of the standout features of this Dobsonian telescope is its versatility. It can be effortlessly converted into a Newtonian telescope, expanding your observational capabilities. This makes it an excellent choice for those who wish to delve into astrophotography.
  • 2.5" HEX Focuser with Helical Gearing: The included 2.5-inch HEX focuser with helical gearing is a game-changer in its price range. It ensures precise and smooth focusing, accommodating both 1.25-inch and 2-inch eyepieces. This versatility allows you to tailor your observations to your preferences and target objects.
  • Red Dot Viewfinder and 25mm SPL Eyepiece: To enhance your observing experience, the telescope package includes a Red Dot viewfinder for easy target acquisition and a 25mm SPL eyepiece. These accessories are designed to get you started quickly and provide enjoyable celestial explorations right out of the box.
  • Portable and Easy to Transport: The telescope's design includes a dismantlable rockerbox with metal quick connectors. This feature simplifies transportation and storage, transforming the bulky rocker box into a compact package of boards. It's an ideal choice for astronomers on the go.
  • Excellent for Deep Sky and Planetary Observations: Whether you're keen on observing deep-sky objects or planets, this telescope excels in both categories. It reveals intricate details on planets, such as the moon's terminator, and resolves the core of bright star clusters. Deep-sky enthusiasts will appreciate its ability to unveil the beauty of nebulae and galaxies.
  • Reflex Sight: Enhancing precision in target acquisition, the Reflex Sight included in the Explore Scientific FirstLight 10-inch Dobsonian Telescope Package streamlines alignment with celestial objects, making observations effortless.

  • Astro R-Lite Red Flashlight: The Astro R-Lite Red Flashlight, a practical illumination solution, preserves astronomers' night vision while providing convenient visibility during telescope setup and use in the dark.

  • Tirion Double-Sided Multi-Latitude Planisphere: Serving as a valuable reference tool, the Tirion Double-Sided Multi-Latitude Planisphere aids astronomers in identifying constellations and celestial objects based on geographical location and observation time.

  • Moon Crater Map (2-Sided): Included in a convenient 2-sided format, the Moon Crater Map provides lunar enthusiasts with detailed insights into the moon's surface features, enriching the observational experience with the Explore Scientific FirstLight 10-inch Dobsonian Telescope Package.

  • Optional Coma Corrector Compatibility: For those seeking the utmost optical performance, the telescope is ready for use with Explore Scientific's optional coma corrector. This accessory can further enhance image quality, particularly for astrophotography.

Excellent Scope and Reflex finder, other accessories aren't worth much.

The scope was excellent. Bright and clear images. Excellent collimation right out of the box. For the price, it seems this can't be beat. But if this package is not on sale to be comparable with the standalone scope, it's probably worth getting the scope and the reflex sight separately. The included planisphere, moon map, and red flashlight, are not worth paying extra for. The Reflex Sight, though, is excellent and highly recommended.

      First Light 10 inch Dobsonian

I set up the telescope, collimated it, and took it out in my very light polluted back yard for some views. I couldn't get the lenses to focus, unless I pulled the eyepiece almost all the way out! I reached out to a very experienced astronomer, and he asked if the scope came with a black spacer tube. It did! I installed it on the focuser, and everything works fine! It is my first real telescope, and so far it has been great!

      Love this Telescope

This telescope was on display at our Astronomy Meetup night late last year. My wife and I were able to become somewhat familiar with it then. We used the 5% off coupon code offered by this website and then upgraded to the bundle packaged items, 2nd eyepiece and moon filter are recommended. Love this Telescope.
