Explore Scientific 208mm Carbon Fiber f/3.9 Newtonian Astrograph - N208CF-01

Presenting the Explore Scientific N208CF Newtonian - Astrograph Edition presents a substantial aperture and an expansive field at f3.9.

Rigorously tested and refined by astrophotographers, this 208mm f/3.9 Newtonian generates well-defined, circular stars when paired with the recommended HR Variable Coma Corrector.

The telescope assembly, featuring a Carbon Fiber tube, exhibits minimal expansion characteristics, ensuring steadfast focus retention.

Its lightweight construction not only enhances portability but also optimizes performance on any mount it is affixed to.

This exceptionally swift f-ratio f/3.9 Parabolic Newtonian, equipped with Borosilicate Secondary and Low Expansion H-PZ33 Primary Mirror optics, yields a focal length of 812mm.

The visual clarity is further intensified by 97% reflectivity EMD coatings. The telescope incorporates a user-friendly design with a no-tool 3-point push-pull collimatable secondary holder and tool-free adjustments for the "clipless" primary mirror holder cell, both equipped with locks to maintain optical alignment for superior imagery.

Achieving precision in focusing is facilitated by the Two Speed 2-inch Rack & Pinion Focuser, complemented by a 50mm Extension Tube and a 1.25-inch Adapter.

This dovetail plate incorporates adjustment bolts with locks to facilitate precise cone angle adjustments.

For added convenience, the package includes a top-loading Soft Carrying Case with padding to safeguard the optical tube assembly during transportation to your backyard or preferred dark sky site for imaging runs or deep-sky visual observations.

Features:

  • 208mm Aperture: The Explore Scientific N208CF Newtonian Telescope's generous 208mm aperture ensures exceptional light-gathering capabilities, allowing astronomers to capture detailed and vibrant views of distant celestial objects, making it an ideal choice for both visual observations and astrophotography.
  • 409x Highest Useful Magnification: With a highest useful magnification of 409x, this telescope empowers astronomers to explore intricate details on planets, moons, and deep-sky objects, providing a versatile and powerful instrument for those seeking high-magnification observations.
  • 812mm Focal Length, f/3.9 Focal Ratio: Featuring an 812mm focal length and a fast f/3.9 focal ratio, this telescope excels in wide-field imaging, making it particularly adept at capturing expansive portions of the night sky in a single frame, facilitating efficient and stunning astrophotography.
  • Coma Correction: The inclusion of coma correction in the design ensures that stars appear as precise, round points rather than distorted shapes near the edges of the field of view, enhancing the overall image quality and making it an excellent choice for astrophotographers focused on pinpoint accuracy.
  • Optical Coatings: Equipped with advanced optical coatings, including 97% reflectivity EMD coatings, the telescope maximizes light transmission and minimizes reflections, resulting in images with heightened brightness, contrast, and clarity, ensuring breathtaking visuals during astronomical observations.
  • Collimation and Adjustments: The telescope's user-friendly collimation features, including a no-tool 3-point push-pull collimatable secondary holder and tool-free adjustments for the "clipless" primary mirror holder cell with locks, simplify the alignment process, ensuring optimal image sharpness and quality without the need for complex tools or expertise.
  • Focusing Mechanism: Precise focusing is achieved through the Two Speed 2-inch Rack & Pinion Focuser, accompanied by a 50mm Extension Tube and a 1.25-inch Adapter, providing astronomers with fine control over focus adjustments for capturing detailed and crisp images.
  • Finder Scope Base: The inclusion of a finder scope base offers flexibility, allowing astronomers to easily mount optional correct image accessories such as the Explore Scientific 8x50 Illuminated Polar Right Angle Finder Scope or the Explore Scientific 8x50 Straight Through Illuminated Viewfinder, enhancing the overall observational experience.
  • Mounting and Compatibility: Supported by sturdy metal Cradle Rings and a contoured metal Handle/Grip with a slot for a 1/4x20 attachment bolt, the telescope not only ensures secure handling but also facilitates piggyback attachment of a DSLR, expanding its capabilities. The 45mm Wide, 203mm Long Dovetail Plate (Vixen-style) enhances mounting versatility, accommodating a broad range of mounts from Explore Scientific and other brands, with adjustment bolts and locks for precision cone angle adjustments.

Great support, good performing scope

RCT has been very accommodating, patient and supportive with my recent purchase of an 8" Newtonian. I was able to upgrade to a carbon tube to better support my camera, and when the carbon ES N208CF was damaged in shipment it was promptly repaired, tested and returned, I've been using it for the last two nights now. Easy to collimate and focus. Throughout this process RCT was made sure i was satisfied with my purchase.

Awesome optical quality

The N208CF is an amazing scope. The optical quality and build is second to none. It just feels solid. The collimation is simple, and the optical aberrations are limited - if any. I primarily use this Scope for astrophotography. I’ve been able to get some mind-blowing shots of IC 405!
