Cassegrains

This style of telescope is often referred to as a Cassegrain reflector (also known as ‘Catadiotric’ Telescopes). Using a concave primary mirror and a convex secondary mirror the optical path folds back onto itself. This design adds a telephoto effect in a short mechanical system. Cassegrains offer excellent optical quality and portability. Two popular variations include Maksutov-Cassegrains, and Schmidt-Cassegrains.
